Have you ever wondered about the different careers in the dental office and what role each individual plays on the dental team? Tune in to today’s Tuesday Tooth Talk as Dr. Kuiper explains the different careers in the dental office and how each of them work together to help you have the best experience possible at Sioux Center Dental!
In the dental office, there are several different team members with different roles to help you have a healthy smile! Dr. Kuiper is the owner and dentist of the team. His role is to diagnose, correct, and maintain oral health in all the patients of the clinic. The other major responsibility he has is overseeing the rest of the staff. At Sioux Center Dental, this includes dental hygienists, dental assistants, and a dental receptionist. Dental hygienists are the team members many patients spend the most time with as they are the ones with you during your checkups and 6 month preventative cleanings. They are also licensed to anesthetize (or numb) areas of the mouth, and are specially trained to perform scaling and root planing (or deep cleanings) for people with infected gum tissues. Dental assistants are trained to help the doctor provide care that is more efficient, fast, and comfortable for the patient. You are always our first priority here at Sioux Center Dental, and our dental assistants help us to make your appointments more relaxed and expedient than Dr. Kuiper could by himself. The last position is our dental receptionist. Her role is to deal with everything outside of the clinical care of our patients, from answering the phone to dealing with financial arrangements and insurance questions. She is well versed in those aspects and is always open to finding ways to help you have a clearer picture of what your insurance will cover or how our financing options can be used to make any treatment more affordable.
If you have questions about the different roles at Sioux Center Dental or would like to come job shadow to find out more, we would love to hear from you! We are always excited to share our passion with others, so let us know and we would be happy to show you the ropes!
