Periodontal disease is a disease of the gums and bone surrounding the teeth. Left untreated, periodontal disease will lead to sensitivity, cavities, and loose teeth. Once periodontal disease develops, periodontal therapy is necessary to treat the diseased areas. Periodontal therapy includes treatment such as: deep cleanings, gum tissue modification, or even bone grafting to repair damaged tissue.
