Fillings/Bondings

White fillings are a great alternative to silver colored, metal fillings. White fillings are completely amalgam free and mercury free. They are made out of a material called composite which is harmless to the body. They can be used to fix cavities or to improve a smile.

For chipped teeth or teeth with gaps between them, composite fillings or bondings can be used to improve the appearance of your smile. In many situations, composite can also be used to repair cavities. The price of fillings is dependent on how many teeth need to be fixed or how big the fillings are. Often times, dental insurance helps cover the cost of white fillings.

Silver fillings, on the other hand, do a good job replacing missing tooth structure, but the downside is that they aren’t as aesthetically pleasing. Over time, because the silver is more dense than tooth structure, they can act as a wedge in the tooth and end up causing cracks in the tooth itself. Contrary to what some people think, silver fillings are a safe and effective way to replace missing tooth structure.
