Effects of Vaping
Is vaping bad for your teeth or gums? Does non nicotine vapor have the same effect? Can vaping cause oral cancer? Are the chemicals from vaping harmful? We get so many questions about the potential hazards of vaping and today, Dr. Kuiper wants to pass on everything he knows about the consequences of this hobby.
Vaping is so new and recent that Dr. Kuiper wasn’t taught much about it while in dental school! Vaping is when there is no smoke involved and the participant uses e cigarettes. Many people think with vaping there are less toxins that cause harm to the body because of the lack of smoke. However, because of the nature of nicotine, you end up seeing the same end results. Just like with cigarettes, you’re going to see delayed healing responses, and more pain and tooth loss due to lack of support for the teeth. You may not see as much yellow or brown staining compared with cigarettes, but because many of the same chemicals are being used, you’re going to see many of the same effects such as the loss of teeth and increased oral cancer rates. While vaping may seem like a better option, all research has shown that it still causes harmful effects at the same rate, it just looks a little different. Dr. Kuiper asks you to think twice about vaping and do a lot of research to find out that maybe it isn’t the best idea!
