Exam By Year One
When should you take your baby to the dentist? Why so early? When do you start brushing their teeth? Today Dr. Kuiper tackles some of the questions we get related to early dental exams.
We recommend bringing your child in to see us around the age of one, or when your child gets his or her first tooth. We know this seems really early but it allows us to spend time getting to know you as a parent and allowing us to help you understand how to best take care of your children. We want for you, as moms and dads, to feel like you’re doing the best thing for your children and raising them right. Even though they’re baby teeth and even though they’re going to come out, those teeth set the foundation for the rest of that child’s dental life. If we lay the correct foundation early on, the rest of their life will continue on that track. We recommend coming in and allowing us to take a look and count the teeth. The best part is that the examination part of the appointment is short and kids usually love having all the attention! The rest of the appointment is spent educating you on how to take care of your child’s teeth.
