How clean are your teeth?

How often do you recommend patients have a check up and cleaning? Why is it important to maintain a six month schedule? Does this apply to children also?

Today we are going to talk a little bit about our recall schedule and why it’s so important. Many patients have questions about how often they should come in and if a cleaning is really necessary. Here is what Dr. Kuiper has to say!

Here at Sioux Center Dental, we typically recommend that patients come to see us every six months. We feel as though this is a good amount of time to go between cleanings, but it also provides us with enough time to intervene if there are any potential major issues that we can see coming up. We strongly believe in prevention and very much encourage patients to see us every six months. At these time intervals, it is very easy for us to catch early signs of decay, prevent plaque buildup, stop gum disease, and remedy other potential issues. This can save you a lot of money in the future as well as maintain your beautiful and healthy smile. Coming in every six months will also make sure that the cleaning is easier on you as well! We are always very gentle and thorough but the more often you get your teeth professionally cleaned, the healthier your gums and teeth will be, and the healthier you will be!

We also encourage kids to come in on the six month schedule. As any parent knows, kids change very quickly! With those changes, although many are good, some things may get missed and we want to stay on top of any dental concerns so that you and your growing child have one less thing to worry about! We don’t want your child to ever experience any dental pain or discomfort and want to prevent that from happening.
